Is it just me, or is it the "we need some cash to further development cos the guys are sick and tired of working for peanuts with minimal or no return for the millions of hours they've put in so far" scenario?
Gotta love the marketing angle tho... aimed at the heart of some simracers who yearn to be involved with beta development - they know only a dedicated racer will buy the beta AND will not return it for refund knowing that when "gold" is released he/she will be one of the first to get racing.
Then again, the line "We’re not forcing anyone to pre-purchase" might have been better written as "We give you the option to pre-purchase".
They didn't want to release b4 the holidays cos of possible issues being unanswered till they came back and they didn't want to be inundated with a backlog of negativity to sift thru to find relevant posts???
.... lame.
Coming early January now; so much for "around xmas"... more like the ghost of xmas past.
How's that for negativity!!
... love you long time, ISI.

Well at least Simbin have given us a release date for GTR3 which is due out on March 14th 2012. Let's see if that actually happens, I hope so BUT I have my doubts, so far just one screenshot and some sounds ( you can't call those pics in the intro with the buttons screenshots cause you don't actually see ANY ingame screenies.
I hope RF2 does come out soon though, I wasn't a fan of RF1 but Iam hoping that this new one far exceeds the first edition.

Any new racing game at the moment would be nice. Been a while since something new has arrived apart from Iracing.

They see iracing releasing betas an making money off it so they might aswell try it aswell.
ISI have been working on it for years with no $$$ coming in, they have to hope to produce something good enough to then get enough money when its released to make it all worth it.
Iracing have a constant stream of money coming in an release updates(betas) every few months.
I know which company i would prefer to be in, the one getting money coming in all the time while still working on it.
Not the one working on it an then having to hope the money comes in.
So cant blame them for following Iracings example.

from ther FAQ
Quote
The car is hard to control for the first few laps
The new tire model REALLY makes proper tire warming important. When you first leave the garage the tires are not up to their operating temperature and thus are quite slippery. Simply "burning rubber" isn't enough--it takes strong laps at racing speed to build up the internal tire temps. Some tires actually take a good 4 to 6 laps to bring them up to proper temperature. Keep this in mind as you are working on a setup--you have to turn a few laps to get a good feel for the changes you've made.
This effect can be compounded when driving on a "green" track. The lack of rubber on the track surface can have a radical effect on how the cars feels. You'll find that as you progress through a weekend and the track continues to "rubber in" you may need to alter your setup to compensate.
On a "green" track with cold tires you'll need to be EXTREMELY cautious until things start to warm up.
Souonds good
.
Getting close, can't wait.
