Please be advised that our web site and database will be relocated during the off season over the Xmas period, as already posted we will be required to relocate our servers as well, at some point during this period the web site will not be accesable the plan for this should see some notice being made available advising the site is down with some minor information.

Once this has been completed and our main means of communication has been returned the next steps will be taken which will including the server moves, as we get closer to this move more details will be added to this notification giving some warning for all.

Will do buddy, I've just signed up with lunarpages.com again and wait for all the information in readiness to relocate the web site and forums, this will at least allow our communities to continue with communication while the rest goes on

Gav just an idea, If the website and database isent that big (upload time) Im happy to put it up austeam up on my server and I can get you to point the domain name to it and austeam would only have 1 or 2 hrs down time between moves to keep the forum up and running as usual and no one would be the wizer... totaly up to you of corse m8 .. just a thort as i got about 10gig spase spare and unlimated bandwith and batabase capasity ... even if you wont to have austeam hosted the permanantly at no cost to austeam .. you will have your own control pannal and dadabase acsess just like you would get from the big companys ??

sent an emal Gav with site logins etc ... who ever you pay for your domain name austeamracing.com all you need is once all of the files have been coppyed over to the new site and make up the databases you just need to change the domain pointer to the new site and within hrs people will be redirected to new site useing austeamtacing.com as it is know

Gav, Sorry if this is none of my business but why the move of the site and server? Is it to a faster provider? and do you physically haven to move the server out of where it currently is now? Is that in S.A?

Sorry for the questions mate but servers and web hosting i know nothing about so this is just a little learning info for me.

I understand if its personal and can't be discussed.

Trav there was a post a few weeks ago (i htink kicking the tin maybe) where gav said that we were moving servers from amnet because of we were now getting too big bandwidth wise. (from memory) i think that was the reason.

Sorry guys a lot of the info is behind closed doors for our Series Managers to review, so a small copy follows to give a bit more of an idea on what was going on, please note the update section shows a mate trying to get the foor opened, this has not happened as yet sorry:

Its not just the server and its usage guys, Austeam has approx 1/4 of rack space to cover our servers, switch gear, monitor etc and until recently was running four physical machines (Had IPS to cover six) then add the bandwidth usage for each machine when an dif they were setup for use. The pipe was also much higher than most >100MB to the back bone.

Some of you would know Jaron Mott, Jaron is an IT guru and was also surprised at both the amount of bandwidth and rack space Austeam had and the fact it was all free. Amnet also hosts our web sites (three of them) download storage and covered the domain name costs etc.

So as you can see it was not just one server and its data, Amnet have provided a huge amount for us, now the other thing to remember is our machines have been housed from well over ten years in the same building and it was the ISP who changed over that period:

Swiftel
Peopletel
Amcon
Amnet

So for us to have the services we have for the number of years has been fantastic and after talking with Amnet I can understand the issues they have not to mentioned for example, they are changed by Amcom (Amnet would be approx 15% and covers mostly residential internet needs) so the [real figures) $24000.00 they cover Austeam for could be better spent in radio or television marketing so really give them a break guys "lol" Austeam has had a top run and received a chit load from them.

UPDATE:
The latest update, I have been in touch with a mate who knows people in both Iinet and Internode in reasonably high positions so he will chat to them to establish a couple of contact names for me to make contact and discuss directly what it is we want. So this should come about over the next two weeks, I'm not holding by breath we will come out in front yet but it does look reasonably good. The worse case for me would be having to pay for the service, as an example AoR were paying around $3000.00 for their servers etc so it would be I need to decide if we change to a pay to play league or close down.....

Appreciate the comments guys however I will do all I can to continue to ahve Austeam as a free place to race, I don't agree with Pay to Play and I didn't post this infomation looking for that I posted to ensure our members were in the know "lol"

thanks for that gavin. clears it all up a bit as to why amnet were hesitant.

Also, i dont mind an anually fee really, infact i strongly support one. and to be honest for what Austeam has to offer and the level of professionalism here it would be well received by the vast majority here who are serious about racing here and being part of the community that is Austeam Racing.
