2008 Austeam Racing East Coast LAN

The 2008 Austeam Racing East Coast LAN

For some, the 2008 Austeam Racing East Coast LAN started very early Friday morning with 2 rednecks venturing up from Victoria on their way to picking up more like-minded folk in search of a LAN gathering.  The redneck convoy left Melbourne in the early hours of Friday with the 1st stop in Albury/Wodonga to pick up passengers and an extra car for the convoy.  Even after the almost 4 hour journey from Melbourne, another 6 hours lay ahead to arrive on the Central Coast.

There were a few extra stops along the way - 1 such stop costing an Austeam Racing member a few demerit points and a lighter wallet and another for (it was reported) a 2nd lunch for 1 particular younger passenger who needed to extra fuel for a big weekend.  With added fuel breaks as well, many opportunities were had to stretch the legs on journey north.

The Redneck Convoy

After an epic journey, the lads were restless and decided to head out for a feed.  After a little bit of organising, the redneck convoy of Mal "Chief Redneck" Lancaster, Grant "Mozzo" Morrison, Brett Fisher, Pete Lacovich and Alex Lahm met up with Matt Cooper for a few quiet ales at a local establishment until the early hours of the morning - the start of many stories shared.

The morning after, the redneck convoy reconvened and tracked down the location of the East Coast LAN.

The Redneck Convoy

In the midst of setup was LAN host Matt Cooper, who with my assistance (and my keen sense of smell for anything that resembled food) was beginning the setup of tables in anticipation of the crowd who were to come and race.  Not much time was wasted and everyone setup about putting together their PCs, the network and a few other bits and pieces.

ANOTHER SMALL STEP FOR LRCtv
Reporter

As some of you my know, LRC has been going on for many years now, LRC started off with Brett Fisher making the odd comments over Teamspeak, or Ventrillo as we were racing around, back in the Nascar days. We all had a bit of a laugh or “LOL”. Jeff Luke, Mal Seakins, Gavin Chatt, Mark Glover, Les Neat are just some of the names that have sat in the booth over time. In more recent years we have upped the ante, making a more serious effort to bring the listeners of LRC a more informative and exciting show. Sim Racing is big around the world and getting bigger. LRC’s goal is to give some of Australia’s best sim drivers, a chance to be seen not only by the Australian public but the world. Let’s face it the world is not such a small place these days.

Peter Lacovich has been with LRC now almost two years and LRC have moved mountains, with major improvements to how the show was run to how it is today.  A newer member Alex Lahm join the team about 8 months ago, and has made his mark on the team (I’ll get him to clean it up yet) Assisting Brett, both Peter and Alex have brought something different to the table, adding new idea’s and having great input to fortnightly show. The newest member that will not be heard over the mic is Warwick Browne who helps out with behind the scene stuff, and then there is Brett Fisher, doing this because he loves the sound of his own voice.

Now that you are up to date with the LRC team, let’s see what we they have been up to of late.  At the moment they record the TV broadcast making it available for down load while things are being prepped for them to push out LIVE footage. So don’t forget to head to the Downloads Section and grab yourself a copy of the 2008 Gigabyte Supercar race calls including some video coverage. But remember, in the coming months you will soon be able to watch the race as right from the broadcasting booth, LRC will bring you Austeam Racing’s best drivers only a click away on race night, keeping you informed of all the action both on and off the track.

There are heaps of things going on behind the scenes, and as time rolls by there will be new things popping up, so keep your eyes open and be ready to see some fantastic Australian Sim Racing Live.

Want to know more, head over to the LRC Web Site and register, drop in to the forums and leave your thoughts for the crew

Reporter

Austeam Racing’s season has opened for 2008 with some fantastic series being made available to its members, the registrations have opened and grid spots are filling fast. A welcome sight for 2008 is the return of a full F1 Season with the feeder being made available, along with the Austeam Premier class the V8 Supercars commencing this month we will see both the Fujitzu and Supercar divisions being backed up with the Class B season which opens with the American Muscles Cars. As notified previously our latest Sponsor Gigabyte, will hold the naming rights to the Supercars season with some fantastic prizes being offered, drivers will be required to show off the Gigabyte name however have the choice on where and how it is displayed. With the announcements being made by our series managers the Austeam paint shops have been in full swing and we wont be surprised on the outcome as our painters perform miracles when it comes to skinning the cars.

The line up we have scheduled provides some great options for our members (new and old) to get involved in and we are sure some fantastic racing should be seen, joining us in 2008 once again will be our very own LRC Team who will cover the V8 Supercars and may even start to cover some additional series.

GIGABYTE JOINS FORCES WITH AUSTEAM RACING
Reporter

The news is out, 2008 will see GIGABYTE on board as one of our Major Sponsors after they approached the league earlier in 2007. After a few months of discussions we will see the GIGABYTE name reflected on all V8Factor skins providing major naming rights to the 2008 Supercar Season along with our other Major Sponsors, GIGABYTE provide a number of fantastic products within their range and some of us today will already be supporting them, items like Memory, Graphic Cards and Motherboards all carrying the GIGABYTE name.

Lili and Tim both based in Taiwan are in charge of the Australia / New Zealand Marketing department for GIGABYTE United, Lili contacted Austeam during 2007 as GIGABYTE were looking for a good Australian league to market their brand of product in Australia and after a sucsesful marketing program through New Zealand decided Australia would be worth reviewing. 2008 will also see the the release of some new products from the GIGABYTE workshop providing top rated products.

Austeam Racing welcome GIGABYTE to our league and look forward to a long sucsesful relationship and we encourage our members and visitors to watch this space as we will bring to you the very latest and greatest from GIGAGYTE soon.
